Detachment~A Day in the Life of TBT(Traumatic Brain Trauma)

Ther are days whn I awake to feel a detachment of self frm life. Its hard to describe. but it is scary as shit. I feel disconectd from my body, I wach my hands move and dont seem to undrstand how. If i hrrt myslf on thees days, I am detachd frm that also.....making the injry wors cos I dont stop in an aproprat time. Somtims this lasts for days. I walk thru my life feeling like a ghost. Seeing my husband, and needing desprtly to screem to him to help me....or seeing my dauter as she stops by and I cant undrstand the words she is saying cos it seems like evn as she is standng rite bside me it looks like she is a mile away, in my warped vision. Yes, it afects my vision like a fish eye lens. i'm a photographer and that is a perfct way to say it.
My startl reflex is horendus on thees days.

I no ther are sevrl reesns I do this. I undrstand the patholgy and mentl reesons, from PTSD of an abusive marrig, to deeling with cancer, to having traumatic brain trauma from that, and the endless radiashn and treetmnt.......

but ultimatly it dosnt mattr WHAT coses it. What mattrs is to STOP IT. I forse myslf OFF the computr, OWT of my bedroom. I forse myslf to speek to my lovd ones, and to let my husband no i am feeling this way so he can be aware and help me back to good. I'm blessd. I'm an aquarius with an aquarian husband. perfect.

It is VITAL that yuo make sombdy in yuor life aware of this condishn so if thay notise you pulling away thay can make the effrts to bring you back out.

how long have yuo ben crafting? when did yuo start?

i come from a long line of crafty gals - my grandma turned 100 last february and she is still doing needle work and other crafts. i have been making stuff since i can remember - my mom is very crafty and always had supplies around with which we could make things.

what inspired you to begin and what keeps you inspired now?

sister corita kent was a printmaker and teacher whose work has very much inspired me. she is best known for her 'love' stamp.

i am inspired by simple things, common phrases and a lot of special requests! some of the most popular prints came first as customer requests, so i am always glad to hear suggestions.

what is the favrit thing in your shop for you?

my favorite print at the moment is a purple elephant dancing on a birthday cake.

i opened my etsy shop on july 22, 2009 so i've been doing this for two years. my sister has an etsy shop, Lulu Bug Jewelry ( www.lulubugjewelry.etsy.com ) and i wanted to understand what she was doing so i opened a shop. she now has a line of pieces that are made from my prints - it is great to work together with her.


any advise to a newby?

or people who are just starting out on etsy? i think the first thing is to make what you love to make. take good photos. get a system for organizing your stuff. talk to other people and ask for help. join a team. make treasuries. participate in virtual labs. don't get overwhelmed or discouraged - this is a new thing. you wouldn't throw your kids in the ocean and expect them to swim - keep that in mind and let yourself be a beginner.

oh, and remember to have fun making your stuff! you are the only person who can do what you do and if you don't make it it will not exist. you never know how what you create will influence someone. my mantra is "stop arguing with your ideas, get out of your way, and make something!"

I have been making jewelry for about a year.

I started to make jewelry as a way to express my creative side and touch other people. I have Multiple Sclerosis and it has been very difficult for me to write which is what I used to do, so I had to find another way to express myself and creating jewelry helps me do that.


what inspired you to begin and what keeps you inspired now?
What keeps me inspired is that I love what I do. I love to make jewelry, I love to help people heal which is what my jewelry is designed to do.

If I have the opportunity to highlight something I really believe in and hope to help I would like to tell you about a shop on Etsy that is a cooperative of women that sell Shea Butter from Sudan. The shop is called, Lululife: Lulu Works Trust, LTD is a member-owned women's cooperative registered in Sudan and Kenya. LWT was set up with the assistance of MEDIC, an international NGO that has since worked side-by-side with the women's cooperative providing technical assistance and moral support encouraging the women to make their shea butter available world-wide and facilitating access to international markets.

 how long have yuo ben crafting? when did yuo start? I have been crafting since I learned to use scissors.

what inspired you to begin and what keeps you inspired now?My Dad was an artist and poverty taught me to upcycle. I put the two together. When I see something that appears obsolete, I always wonder what I can turn it into. I only begun to fill my shop with the things that are still to be put together.

This photograph was taken in April 2010 using an Olympus digital SLR, aperture
set manually, with no special filters or digital modification.  The location
for
the shot is our back balcony at 1063 Hillsboro Mile, Unit 303, Hillsboro Beach,
Florida 33062.  The view is west across the intracoastal waterway (only a few
hundred yards away) toward the rather unphotogenic city of Deerfield Beach.


One of the most surprising aspects of the photo is that it directly targets an
area with extensive commercial and residential development. Only one subtle
clue is apparent: In the far lower left, a few early lights several miles away
in Deerfield Beach are visible.

The tree in the lower left is on the far side of the intracoastal, and serves
as
the home for a number of nesting pelicans.  Comfortable shelter 500 feet from

hour fresh sushi seems like an intelligent choice for real estate.

Hello there~ My name is Elizabeth Holmes-deForest, but my inner circle call me ‘Ribasus’ and even more often, ‘Auntie Ribasus.’ Why? It all came from my son’s attempt to say my name when he was learning to speak. Well… the name stuck, and even my late mother called me Ribasus! I was born curious and have been pursuing both of my interests… which really boil down to helping people and making beautiful things… since I was a little girl. In the arts, I have some formal training and have won awards for photography and works on paper in the fine arts realm. As for crafts, those began early on learning to sew and knit at my grandmother’s feet. I also would make jewelry from whatever I could lay my hands on. I still have the old candy tin with the few beads which I would combine and recombine for hours on end. But the making of jewelry as a business and also realizing my dream of designing apparel came later. I had some jewelry and design businesses through the ‘70’s, but after the birth of my son in 1984, I got serious about manufacturing my own lines of both jewelry and outerwear. Now that I am officially middle aged, I have moved into a less hectic and deadline sensitive mode. I sell my jewelry and offer some of my astrology services ( I have been a counseling astrologer for over 30 years) at Foret on Etsy. I sell some of the extraordinary supplies and gemstones I have been amassing at ForetTwo on Etsy.

I LOVE what I do and it is always hard for me to pick a favorite piece at Foret. However, this one is very special to me because I love dragons. I was born in the Year of the Water Dragon, so these creatures are all over my house!

I have been on Etsy for three years and found it completely by accident. I then lassoed some of my friends to open shops on Etsy as well. You know. Safety in numbers! I had such diverse items to offer that I used to have three Etsy shops but found that one was always ignored, so I condensed back to two: Foret and ForetTwo. I have very simple advise for anyone who wants to sell on Etsy- 1) list something, preferably more than one thing, every day if you can, 2)make sure that your photographs are the best you can make them because they are what sells your item, 3) observe all of the SEO advice which is readily available to Etsy sellers and make your descriptions and titles all searchable and pertinent, and 4) promote, promote, promote. I find that if I drop the ball as to promoting ( I have my Facebook and Twitter linked as well as being on a number of active Etsy teams) my sales stop in their tracks. Just keep making things better and better. Hang in there and never give up!

As for charities, I am definitely in favor of giving, tithing, and donating to whatever speaks to your heart. As a member of Etsy Project Embrace, I make donations to our charities. Right now, I am more inclined to be giving to the local food bank and to the humane charities which need help at the moment due to the disastrous wildfires here in New Mexico. At the moment, I am writing to you my home in Santa Fe where the air is tainted with smoke from fires both above town in the mountains and from nearby Los Alamos. This is the largest fire in NM history- over 104,000 acres and growing.
